In 1978, Paul Mumford, the dairy farmer decided to venture out and start a small septic and excavation company. Just starting out, Paul was dedicated to proving top-notch service at an affordable price. His hard work and dedication made his business take off as he always put the customers first.

In 1990, Paul and his wife Toni got into the school bus transportation field. To this day they still own and operate school buses for the Town of North Kingstown.

Paul and Toni's son, Paul Jr., graduated high school in 2000 and joined his father full time in the family business. At this time the name of the company was officially changed to Paul R. Mumford & Son Cesspool Service, Inc.

The company began to branch out in 2003, starting a new division that offered portable toilets to the fast growing construction industry.

In the year 2006 Paul Mumford & Son acquired Mike's Roll-Off Service, adding yet another division to the company. The Roll-Off Dumpsters co-insided nicely with the portable toilets and offered a one-stop shop for many local contractors.

Today, nearly 30 years later with over 8000 septic customers in Southern Rhode Island, 250 Portable toilets and over 100 Roll-Off Containers,
